№3

This third Earth Painting in the Echoes of Home series explores the emotional void left by the absence of home while highlighting the inner strength women discover as they ask, "Where do I belong?" The rich, dark brown tones and rugged texture reflect both the vulnerability and resilience needed to rebuild amidst instability. Housing is more than a structure—it provides the security and identity essential for recovery (RICS, 2023).

This Earth Painting serves as a reminder of the strength we carry within, even in moments of loss.

Oak wood foundation
The use of oak wood as the foundation for these small Earth Paintings symbolises strength, endurance, and steadfastness — qualities deeply resonant with the narrative of resilience and rebuilding. Across cultures, the oak is revered for its unwavering stability, mirroring the determination of those who endure dehumanising processes and strive to reclaim their identity and humanity.

More than a number
The numbering of these Earth Paintings serves as a reflection on the dehumanising processes refugees endure, where individuals are reduced to statistics instead of being recognised for their unique stories and inherent humanity.
